Los seguidores del presidente Donald Trump irrumpieron este miércoles en el Congreso de EE.UU. tras derribar varias vallas de seguridad y enfrentarse con la Policía, que se ha visto superada, provocando caóticas escenas en la capital estadounidense.

La alcaldesa Muriel Bowser declaró el toque de queda en la ciudad ante el caos generado, con miles de manifestantes en las calles de Washington.

El Congreso se encontraba reunido para validar los resultados de las elecciones de noviembre, en los que el demócrata Joe Biden resultó vencedor.

Las imágenes muestran cómo los seguidores del mandatario saliente se encaran con los agentes que conforman la barrera policial de seguridad y son repelidos con gases lacrimógenos.

Posteriormente, se ven peleas en el interior del Congreso entre seguidores de Trump y policías.

Algunos de ellos aprovecharon las estructuras desplegadas para la toma de posesión del presidente electo, el demócrata Joe Biden, para escalar y acercarse a la escalinata del Congreso y a su acceso.

La marcha, bajo el nombre de «Salvar a EE.UU.» comenzó por la mañana de manera pacífica cerca de la Casa Blanca, según pudo constatar EFE.

A mediodía, Trump se dirigió a las manifestantes para prometer que «nunca» concedería la derrota y urgió a sus seguidores a marchar hacia el Congreso. /EFE-
